Aims: To describe anthropometric characteristics and nutritional status in women aged 40-65 years old in Hanoi. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 673 women aged 40-65 living in communes of Duong Noi, Phu La, Chuc Son, Phu Nghia, Ha Dong and Chuong My districts, to describe overweight and obesity through anthropometric indices and nutritional status such as BMI, abdominal obesity, central obesity.

Objective: To describe the change of nutritional status in children under 24 months of age in 3 Northern mountainous provinces through the local production and marketing model of complementary foods.
A cross-sectional descriptive study method was used to assess pre-pregnancy nutritional status and to describe serveral characteristics of obstetric history and high risk factors of 173 pregnant women with gestational diabetes, who were examined and received inpatient treatment at the National Hospital of Endocrinology in 2020-2021.
To assess knowledge attitude and practices on food safety and the utilization of food additives in Quang Binh, a cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted among all 164 owners of food producing shops (noodles, bread, rolls, spring) in three districts and provincial town in 2009 using a structured questionnaire.
The study aimed to find the optimal conditions for the production of tomato paste with 2-level rotatable design and multi-objective optimization - using the desirability function approach. 20 laboratory experiments were conducted to build the objective function to describe the influence of maltodextrin on the rate of additional services before the sun spray, drying air temperature, pump speed input to the spray drying process.
The study on the effectiveness of PediaPlus milk was carried out in the kindergarten in Dong Ky commune, Yen The district, Bac Giang province in 4 months from January to the end of May, 2011. The total 200 children from 36-72 months of age of the kindergarten were divided into intervention and control groups.
An intervention study with control group in 9 months using nutrition education and communication approach to prevent overweight/obesity was conduced in 700 children aged 6-14 years old. Those children are at 2 schools of Hoan Kiem districts and 2 schools of Ba Dinh district in Hanoi.
Efficacy of fortified wheat flour fortified With 5 micronutrient was carried out in anemic female workers. The results indicated that instant noodle consumption increased the Hb and zinc levels significantly (p<0.01) at the end of the study (+6.4 to 11.7g/L for Hb; and +14.2 to 18µg/dL for Zn); as the results, the rates of iron deficiency anemia and zinc deficiency were significantly reduced after 6 months of consumption of instant noodles (reduced 9.1-11.6% for anemia, and reduced 9.1-11.6% for zinc deficiency), however no effects on folate status was observed.
Co Sua (Euphorbia hirta L.) tea was produced in 4 different formulas and packaged as 2 grams per sachet. Co Sua tea was made by boiling for 30 min or stewing in hot water for 10 min. Polyphenol content in the Co Sua tea was determined and hedonic test was conducted. Results showed that polyphenol content in the boiled Co Sua tea was higher than the Co Sua tea which was stewed.
From 1995 to 2004, in the framework of the national plan of action for nutrition 1996-2000 and national strategy for nutrition 2001-2010, a number of multi-sectoral activities have been implemented in Thuong Tin - a pilot district of Ha Tay province.
The study aimed produce tablets to supplement iron, zinc, vitamin C, folic acid and amino acid for pregnant women. Selected ingredients to produce were DSM premix, USA isolated soybean protein and whey protein concentrate. Materials after being granulated were dried into 2 phases: 1st phase: 40 degree C in 6 hours and 2nd phase: 45 degree C in 5 hours.
A survey on anemia and sub-clinical vitamin A deficiency was carried out in 8152 children < 5y, belong to 56 provinces in Oct-Nov 2008. The results indicated that sub-clinical vitamin A deficiency (serum retinol < 0.7µmol/L) was 14,2%; Anemia prevalence (Hb<110g/L) was 29.2%, ranking as mild level of public health significance.
Intervention called “Meal seen and practiced” was conducted regularly at households with San Chay children under 5 years old in Thai Nguyen during 18 months (2006-2008). The results showed that familes with children under 5 actively contributed time and effortS as well as equipments, and 652.9 kg of food in kind to practice complementary food for children.
Effects of formula milk “Gau Active Protection”, enriched with prebiotics and probiotics on nutritional status, immune capacity, and digestion have been investigated in Vietnamese children aged from 18-36 months old. The children in experimental group (SYNBIO, n=75) received daily 40g of milk powder “Gau 1 Active Protection” diluted in 200ml of water, 5 days per week for 5 months.
A cross-sectional study was conducted in November, 2011 on 80 weaning children aged 13-18 months in an urban ward and a suburban commune of Hanoi. Its objective was to describe complementary food consumption of children 13-18 months old by measuring food intake during 24 hours.
The study was conducted among officers of the Border Guard High Command camping aging from 30 to 59 years old in Hanoi area, Objective: to assess the efficacy of Lycopen-micronutrient tables in reducing blood lipid disorders. Method: Community pre-post intervention trial in 12 weeks, among 110 millitary officers, who were overweight (BMI>=23) and having blood lipid dis-orders.
Some chemical & microbiological hazards in food were selected for risk assessment based on available scientific information on the characteristics of hazards and analysis results of a laboratory that has been certified VILAS No. 307 belonging to the Food Science and Safety department – National Institute of Nutrition.

Plant polyphenols have antioxidant capacity and alpha-glucosidase inhibition supporting the prevention and treatment of diabetes. This study was conducted to determine the content of total polyphenols, free radical scavenging and alpha-glucosidase inhibition of the extracted leaves (Voi leaves (V), Oi leaves (O), Sen leaves (S) and the VOS mixture.
The aim of study is to explore the differences of nutrition related factors (weight loss, food intake change, stomach- intestinal symptoms, physical function, loss of subcutaneous fat, oedema, ascites...) between normal group and malnourished group of hospitalized patients classified by anthropometric method. A cross sectional study was conducted with the involvement of 181 hospitalized patients at Hai Duong province hospital from March to June, 2009.
